More about Archibald Moyes

Archibald is believed to be the brother of Driver George Moyes, 79452, 99th Battery, 148th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, who also served during the Great War.

LOCHEE SOLDIER IS MARRIED

WHILE ON FURLOUGH FROM TRENCHES.

An interesting wedding, the first of its kind in the district, took place at Lochee last night, when the contracting parties were Driver Archibald Moyes, Royal Engineers, son of Mr Robert Moyes, 106 Lorne Street, Lochee, and Ina, daughter of Mr Andrew Hovell, 88 High Street, Lochee.  The officiating clergyman was the Rev. Wm May.

Driver Moyes came home from the front only this week.  Some time ago he was informed that in all probability he would receive leave, and he thought he “would take the opportunity” while he was home, and accordingly wrote to his parents to make arrangements for his wedding.

Driver Archibald Moyes, Royal Engineers, and his wife, who were married on Thursday night.  Driver Moyes, who is a son of Mr Robert Moyes has been at the front with his regiment, and he carried the photograph with him through all the operations in which he took part.  He got a week’s furlough, and went through the wedding ceremony during that brief relief from active service. Driver Moyes returns to the front this week-end.

Driver Moyes goes back to the fighting line on Sunday, and with him will go the good wishes of his many friends in the city.  Appropriately enough Mrs Moyes had sewn upon the front of her dress the British and Belgium flags.
