More about James M. Watson

James M. Watson   M.M.  38996   Royal Engineers

DUNDEE DESPATCH RIDER WINS MILITARY MEDAL.

Corporal James M. Watson, motor despatch rider, attached to the Royal Engineers, has been awarded the Military Medal.  He is the only son of Mr and Mrs Watson, 47 Milnbank Road, Dundee, and gained his honour for carrying important despatches under heavy shell-fire.  The gallant corporal enlisted a few months after the outbreak of war, and has been engaged as a despatch rider for almost two years.

He is twenty-eight years of age, and before the war was in the employment of George Stephen & Son, ironmongers, Dundee, with whom he served his time.  He was slightly wounded in the face about six months after he went to the front.
