More about James Davidson
James Davidson Royal Field Artillery
DUNDEE “SOMME FILM” SOLDIER SERIOUSLY WOUNDED.
Mrs Davidson who resides at 164 Overgate, Dundee, has received official intimation that her husband, Driver Jas. Davidson, Royal Field Artillery, was seriously wounded on 11th September. At the time he received his wounds, Davidson had a miraculous escape from death. He was carrying a message from his officer, and was on horse- back, when his steed was killed under him by a shell, and he himself seriously wounded in the head, back, and one of his arms.
A few weeks ago, when the great film of the “Battle of the Somme” was being exhibited, Driver Davidson was recognised astride a horse attached to an ammunition waggon. Driver Davidson, who is 37 years of age, joined the colours about two years ago, and had been nearly sixteen months at the front. He was previously employed by Mr Collie, coach proprietor, Wormit.
