More about Alexander Taylor Queen
Alexander Taylor Queen 839 Highland Light Infantry
DUNDEE SOLDIER WINS CROIX DE GUERRE.
ATTACKED MACHINE-GUN TEAM SINGLE-HANDED.
Mr and Mrs Queen, 30 Rosebank Street, have received word that their son, Private A. T. Queen, H.L.I., has been awarded the Croix de Guerre for gallantry displayed in the great advance. When the battalion crossed the River Lys he attacked a German machine-gun team single-handed, and put them to flight capturing one prisoner. The gallant soldier is 28 years of age, and joined the colours at the outbreak of war, proceeding shortly afterwards to France, where he has been all the time. In civil life he was in the employment of the Fife Coal Company at the Mary Pit, Lochee.
