DUNDEE R.A.M.C. MAN GETS THE D.C.M.

Corporal William Kidd a member of the Dundee unit of the R.A.M.C., has been awarded the D.C.M.  His parents, who reside at 12 Lintrathen Gardens, Dundee, have just received intimation that their son has been awarded the medal for gallantry in action.

Corporal Kidd, who is 22 years of age, is attached to a battery of the Royal Field Artillery, and has been in the fighting zone since May of last year.  Prior to the outbreak of war, he was employed with Messrs David Dickie & Son, ironmongers, Commercial Street, Dundee.

Dundee Courier 7th November 1916

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He carried a wounded man into an open trench and stood over him to protect him from splinters for two hours.  Later, he rescued several wounded men under very heavy fire.
