More about James Alexander Burnett

James initially enlisted in the Royal Field Artilley, 6th Reseve Brigade, 227709 and was then transferred to the R.A.S.C.

He doesn’t appear to have been a very good soldier as he has approx 20 offences on his Conduct Sheet, including ill-treating horses on parade, failing to salute an officer in the High Street in Dundee, absent without leave (6 occasions), laughing on parade.  All these in various places – Dundee, Glasgow and Bulford (Wiltshire) and Aldershot.
