More about Thomas MacWhannell/McWhannell
The family also went by the name of Whannell. Thomas was captured at Vimy, 11.04.1917 and held as a prisoner of war at Limburg Lahn P.O.W. Camp in Germany until the end of the war.
He was the brother of Pte Alexander MacWhannell/McWhannell, 1346, 2nd Battalion Black Watch, who was killed in action, 07.01.1916. and Air Mechanic 3rd Class William Macwhannell, 95934, Royal Air Force, who returned home safely.
