More about George Ogilvie

For reasons unknown George was not listed on the original  Dundee Roll of Honour.

George Ogilvie   S/9795   Black Watch

News of the death in action on 24th March of Pte. William G. Ogilvie, Black Watch, reached Dundee on Saturday in a letter from a comrade at the front.  Pte. Ogilvie joined the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders a year ago, and was subsequently transferred to the Black Watch.  He had been at the front for several months.  Before enlisting Pte. Ogilvie, who was about 30 years of age, was a tenter in Bowbridge Works, and was highly respected by his fellow workers.  He leaves a widow and two children, who reside at 33 Provost Road.

Dundee Courier 8th April 1918

The Arbroath Roll of Honour list Georges occupation as a Labourer in the Dens Iron Works, Arbroath as his occupation prior to enlisting and makes no mention of a wife and children.
