William Yeaman 2513 Australian Sportsman’s Battalion
WELL-KNOWN CARNOUSTIE GOLFER ENLISTS.
Word has just been received in Carnoustie that William Yeaman a son of Mr Wm. Yeaman, Barry Links, has answered the call of the Homeland by enlisting in the Australian Sportsman’s Battalion.
Yeaman, who emigrated to Sydney, Australia, over three years ago, is well known and popular in this district. He was an extremely talented golfer, being a scratch member of the Carnoustie Club.
At present he is stationed with his regiment at Liverpool, New South Wales. A brother of Yeaman’s Trooper John Yeaman 1st Royal Dragoons, was mentioned in despatches for conspicuous bravery in December of last year.
