Robert Gordon Millar Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders
DUMFRIES MINISTER DIES OF WOUNDS.
WELL KNOWN IN LOCHEE.
By a very large circle of friends in Dundee and district the news of the death from wounds of Second-Lieutenant Robert Gordon Millar, of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, will be received with the deepest regret. The deceased officer was a son of Mrs M. L. Millar, Inverlyric, Ancrum Road, and was 32 years of age. He was a graduate of St Andrews University, and entered the ministry of the Church of Scotland.
In the social life of the University there was no more popular personage than “Bob” Millar, in whose nature there was so much bright sunshine and fine comradeship. While a student he did good work at Kilsyth, and after acting as assistant in Abbey Church, Paisley, he was elected fully two years ago minister of St Mary’s Parish Church, Dumfries. Through his ministry there was short it was eminently successful.
When the country called for volunteers Lieut. Millar joined the army as a combatant, and went to the front seven months ago. He was wounded on 23d April, and died on 11th May. Lieut. Millar was married only last year. His brother, Captain Thomas Millar, of the K.O.S.B., is at the front.
