More about Albert Powrie
Albert initially enlisted in the Royal Navy as an Ordinary Seaman, Clyde Z/7006, but was promoted to Able Seaman 10.03.1916. He remained in the Navy until 13.04.1917 when he transferred to the Army Service Corps ( Motor Transport) on 14.04.1917, Reg No M/305942 as a driver. He later transferred to the 10th Worcester Regiment, 47th Training Unit, Reg No 35322 and was promoted to Lance Corporal 04.12.1918 before being discharged 31.03.1920.
He married a widow Janet Boyter 11.06.1920 and they had one son. Albert was killed in action 30.03.1945 whilst serving in India with the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers. Sadly his son Ernest was also killed in action 26.03.1945 aged 18 whist serving with the 5th Black Watch in Germany.
