More about John Small Laburn
As a child John attended Harris Academy. Prior to enlisting he was employed as a Post Office Telegraphist. Upon enlisting John was posted to France in January 1916 as a Telegraphist Sapper with the Royal Engineers.He remained on the Western Front through 1916/17.
After the Armistice in November 1918 he marched through France and Belgium into Germany to Duren near Cologne on December 15th where he remained all winter as part of the B.E.F. Occupying Force. He returned to Britain in April 1919 to the Royal Engineers base at Chatham, Kent and was discharged into the “Z” Reserves. Upon returning to Dundee from No1 Dispersal Unit, Kinross, and Resumed work with the Post Office as a Supervisor.
