More about Thomas McCulloch

For reasons unknown this man is not listed on the original Dundee Roll of Honour although his brother James is listed on the roll.

He was the brother of Pte James McCulloch, 241231, 5th Battalion, Black Watch, who was killed in action, 14.10.1916.

OLD DUNDEE HIGH SCHOOL BOY KILLED.

Another old Dundee High School boy has fallen on the battlefield.

Mr and Mrs Thomas McCulloch, 14 Forfar Road, have received intimation of the death in action of their son,  Private Thomas McCulloch, Black Watch.

The sad blow is all the more pronounced as considerable anxiety has of late been caused by the fact that no word has been received for a time from their other soldier son, Private James McCulloch.

The brothers enlisted in the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry in November of last year, and had been in training together. About three months ago Thomas was transferred to the Black Watch, and he had been at the front with the regiment for only two months.  Prior to enlistment the deceased soldier, who was a young lad of much promise, was employed as a clerk with Messrs Hill & Renny, flax merchants, Dundee.  He was only 19 years of age.

James was lately transferred to the Black Watch also, and he has been at the front for a short time.
