More about Ingleby Duncan

Ingleby has no known grave but is remembered on the Vimy Momorial. He was wounded at Ypres 13 June 1916 during a counter attack and was hit in the left leg by shrapnel. He was sent to Old Mill Hospital Aberdeen and then on to a V.A.D. Hospital at Cullen to recover. His father moved to Canada at some point and is recorded as residing at 1650 Pacific Ave, Winnipeg.

For reasons unknown Ingleby Duncan is not included on the original Dundee City Roll of Honour

It is believed that Ingleby’s father George also served during the war, serving as a Gunner with No2 Section, 51st HDAC, Royal Field Artillery, Reg No 645750.
