James who was killed in action at Passchendaele and has no known grave, but is remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial is the son of Sapper Peter Baird, 1081861, 1st Battalion, Canadian Railway Troops and the brother of Pte Alexander Henderson Baird, 799149, 19th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, both of whom survived the war.
