More about Andrew Connelly

Private Connelly enlisted with the Dundee raised 3rd Highland Field Ambulance unit and  was deployed to ‘1/3’ Highland Field Ambulance in France on 8th March 1916.

Connelly is listed as having been wounded in action twice during his time in France, firstly in July 1916 with ‘shell shock’ and latterly suffered gun shot wounds to his right knee. He was initially treated in France then later at the 1st Scottish General Hospital in Aberdeen. From here he was medically dischargged with a stated 30% disability.

After his discharge, he returned to the home he shared with his mother, 20 Bell Street, Dundee.
