William has no known grave but is remembered on the Le Touret Memorial.

A RESERVIST’S PATHETIC DEATH.

Much regret will be expressed in the central district of Dundee at the announcement of the death in action of Private Ross, Highland Light Infantry, who carried on a coal merchant’s business in Overgate.

The intimation of his death is contained in a letter from his companion, Private M’Gregor, whose wife resides in Long Wynd.  Private Ross was 32 years of age, and was a reservist, having served three years with his regiment.  He had been at the front since the commencement of hostilities, and a sad circumstance in connection with his death is the fact that his widow is left with five children, the eldest of whom is eight years of age, and the youngest was born since its father left for France.  His widow resides at 202 Overgate.
