Andrew (Alexander) Glass Manby 1831 2d Black Watch
DUNDEE SOLDIER KILLED.
Official intimation has been received by Mr John Manby, 76 James Street, Dundee, that his son, Private A. Manby, 2nd Black Watch, has died of wounds received in action in the Persian Gulf.
On the outbreak of war Private Manby came from India to France with the 2nd Black Watch. He was wounded at Neuve Chapelle, but was able to re-join his regiment, and was with the 2nd Black Watch when they were transferred to Mesopotamia.
Private Manby, who was 25 years of age, was prior to enlistment employed by Messrs Wm. Cleghorn & Co., Arklay Street. Other three brothers are serving with the colours. The youngest, Private David Manby, 4th Black Watch was wounded at Loos; James, the eldest is serving in the Scots Guards; and Robert is in the Royal Scots Fusiliers.
