More about George Gavine

George was killed at Loos on 13th October leaving several children. George was an ex-Regular. Some of his direct decendants now live in Canada and have his death plaque and medals.

George’s nephew was named after him: George Gavine Howie and in-turn his great nephew was given George as his middle name.

George Gavine Howie himself served in the Black Watch for 27 years and had an attachment there until he died e.g. Trustee of the BW Association and Chairman of the BW Club, Edinburgh.

Additional information kindly provided by George Gavine’s great nephew, Leslie George Howie.
