Edward’s three brothers all served during the Great War. They were, Pte Alexander Clark, 418140, 42nd Battalion, Canadian Infantry, Pte David Clark, 198996, 85th Battalion Canadian Infantry, killed in action 16.06.1917 & Able Seaman James Clark, H.M.S. Royal Sovereign.

DIED OF WOUNDS.

Official intimation has been received of the death following wounds of Private Edward Butchart Clark, C Company 1st Black Watch, 28 North George Street, Dundee.

Private Clark enlisted on 8th August last.  He went to the front on 23rd November, was wounded on 8th May, and died two days later.  Before enlisting he was employed as a calender worker by Messrs Wm. Watson & Co. at Forebank Dyeworks.  He was 19 years of age.

According to this mans pension record he had a 2nd dependant, Catherine Carroll, 3 North William St, Dundee
