Private Martin John Byres, Seaforth Highlanders, only son of Mr John Byres, 66 Wellgate, has been killed in action.
Deceased joined the forces in May, 1917, and had been in France since Christmas of last year. He was 19 years of age, and prior to enlistment was employed with Messrs David Gibb & Sons, jute merchants, Meadowside.
