Killed.
Sergeant James Black, Scots Guards, son of Mrs Black, Hawkhill, Dundee, and lately of William Street., Forfar.

At the age of 24 Sergeant James Black of the Scots Guards was killed in action on July 31. He was the only son of Mrs Black, now of Dundee, formerly of Forfar. He has an uncle who lives in Canmore Street and who bears the same name as his nephew.
Sergeant Black was employed in Academy Street Works before the war and was well known as a member of the Instrumental Band. In December 1914 he joined the army and has been over a year on active service.
His brother John was wounded recently and is at present in this country convalescent.
