John was the brother of Pte Martin Boag 3/2243, 2nd Battalion Black Watch, who was killed in action 09.05.1915. Richard Henry and Robert all served with the Black Watch and all three returned home safely.

Lochee Man Killed
Mrs Boag, 36 Kirk Street, Lochee, has received notification that her husband, Private John Boag, of the Machine Gun Section of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, has been killed. He leaves a widow and a young family of four. He was the eldest of five brothers who have all joined the colours. His brother, Martin, of the Black Watch has been missing since 9th May 1915. Richard, also of the Black Watch, is at present at the front. Henry has been twice wounded, but has now completely recovered. Robert is also in Service.
